Finally we came home.. :)

After Paris, we went to another French city – Strasbourg. Compared to Paris, Strasbourg is a quiet town, clean, friendly and great for vacation. The characteristics of the Strasbourg are cathedral, located in the old city center and the EU institutions that are located near the center. The most famous of these are European Parliament, Council of Europe and European Court of Human Rights.

After French, trip was moved again to Germany. We visited Bavarian capital city Munich. City of beer and sausages is justified his expectations. Germans have again shown their precision, accuracy and courtesy. Again we were delighted! From Munich we went to Italy.

The first Italian destination was Milan, and on the road to the capital of fashion we decide to go to Rome. In Milan we spent three days and that was enough to visit the city. The city is full of monuments and beautiful buildings. In the city is located the Leonardo’s masterpiece “The Last Supper”. After Milan, we moved to the “Eternal city”. Rome, city full of history, city which requires a lot of time for study and research. One morning is dedicated to the Holy state, the Vatican, and with enthusiasm and admiration walk through this place.

The last destination of the trip was Vienna. I can freely say that city is the center of the world. The town, has left the strongest impression on me. On the one hand full of parks, historic buildings and monuments, but on the other side with famous boutiques, tourist and entertainment attractions and new buildings of modern art. So, Vienna is a city where everyone can find something for themselves.

After that long travel we came to Montenegro, completely satisfied with everything that we saw.

Special booking offers in hostels: lobby or yard?

I’m alive.

I’m again late with my report, but this time I think it’s for a justified reason – the lack of time caused by trying to survive ;) out there for 22 days.

At last I arrived to the beaches of the Croatian island of Cres and finally managed to get a clear view of my impressions on this great adventure and live the experience once more through my memories.

Still, I’ll continue writing where I left off because every town I’ve been to is worthy of mention.

I’m returning to Düsseldorf.

Düsseldorf combines modern architecture with the old part of the city, just like Berlin. It reminds me somehow of the authenthic Skadarlija in Belgrade. The city was named after the channel Düssel, which flows in the Rhein. The Rhein surrounds it from all sides. Therefore, the first reward on the competition for city planning is completely justified.
One of the things I really enjoyed in Düsseldorf was climbing the City Tower and embracing the whole area of approximately 500.000 citizens in one glance. I also took a chance to visit the fairy ”Kirmes” that takes place once a year on the river’s (The Rhein’s) bank. That’s where I really had fun and where I accumulated some energy for the following days.
Only a few kilometers away lies Köln. By what I’ve heard it’s Düsseldorf’s rival by its appearance and organization. In the very center of the city I was stunned by the magnificent view on the enormous Kölner Dom (Cathedral). Right next to it is the The Museum of Roman Antiquities. Furthermore, walking down the main street of Köln brought me back in Knez Mihailova street.
After all, I had to change my plan and inform the group to expect me in Paris, because only a few hours away Amserdam was waiting for me. It was simply inevitable on my way to Amserdam to have a quick break and spend some sunny hours on a beautiful beach in The Hague.

Amsterdam is a sweet little town of identical houses, that’s why also dangerous for those who are visiting for the first time. You can easily get lost…and that’s exactly what happened to me. All in all, it was unforgettable.
With its characteristic architecture, boats, channels and bridges, Amsterdam is above all romantic. It’s a town specific by its red lanterns, and if I may say, a town of varios fragrances. Rembrandt’s house, Van Gogh’s Museum, Queen’s Palace – all of them reflect Amsterdam, amazingly clean and different from the others. Seeing it was worth the effort, money and energy. Besides, I should also mention that Amsterdam is the main financial center of Europe.
After only a day spent in Amsterdam, my next stop was Paris, as I was in a rush and wanted to catch up with the others.
A distant wish finally came true. I was in Paris. Nevertheless, full enjoyment was restricted by financial difficulties. As much as Paris is beautiful, as much it is expencive, especially for us, students. After visiting the famous Luvr, Notr Dam, climbing the Eiffel Tower, it was time to go on.
We were headed towards Portugal. Still, wishes and plans are one thing, and the reality the other. Considering that I was the only one without a plan and that Barcelona is my dream city, I decided very quickly to buy a ticket to Spain.
Barcelona!!!Gaudi’s city! The city of mosaics! So made for me!

Barcelona – Gaudi’s city and my dream come true.

Kind people who always wore smiles on their faces made me feel like home. Especially if you’re in luck to meet your fellow-citizens and in fluent Serbian kindly ask them to take a photo of you in the Gaudium park.

Since we came totally unprepared (we didn’t even reserve a hostel room), luck was on our side. A friendly Spaniard allowed us to spend the night in the lobby of a hostel J.

The only problem in Barcelona (besides the completely booked hostels) was the lack of time. We were there for only three days.

Barcelona is a city of beautiful streets, great inspiration and imaginative artists.

The hospital complex ‘Sagrada familia’, Gaudi’s park make Barcelona incredible!

My next destination was Ljubljana (going thorugh Nice, Milano, Venice…:)).

‘Talk Serbian so the whole world would know you’ was a phrase which again came true.

We found out when the train leaves from a Frenchman (Yugoslavian ancestry). I was again relieved I didn’t have mimmick and gesticulate English to a Frenchman who probably doesn’t understand a word of it.

But the adventure wasn’t about to end…this time we didn’t spend the night in the lobby of a hostel…rather on a plastic chair in the yard of a hostel in Nice. Believe it or not – that was pure luck. Many thanks to Robert (a German), a worker in a hostel, who couldn’t allow three Serbian girls to wander the beaches of Nice in the middle of the night. As he told us, many ‘odd’ people tend to come to Nice so were in luck to run into a German. J

After two days and two nights in the train we finally arrived to Ljubljana.

While exploring the city, we visited the famous Union hotel and like real Serbian ambassadors we met the manager of the hotel (we accidently interrupted him in the middle of a business lunch) J. There we tried the famous Slovenian pastry ‘prekmurska gibanica’ and the manager (as kind and wonderful as he was) organized me a meeting with the famous fashion designer Alan Hranitelj. The day was incredible. I visited the Postojna pit (with endangered animal species) and the journey couldn’t end in a more beautiful way.

I made my way to Cres where I’m currently writing this. Only now I’ve made it back to life (just to try and describe you the last 22 days).Ahh…memories…:)

Destination Barcelona! ;)

After the amazing city rally in Berlin, that was the perfect start of an Euro Trip, I was eager to discover more and more about the different cultures.

The first unique moment was traveling by train. My trip from Berlin to Barcelona lasted over 24 hours and I went through Basel, Biel, Geneva, Lyon, Avignon, Portbou, and finally BARCELONA. I felt like i was part of a film or a documentary, but no that was a real experience.

Then five brilliant days of cultural sightseeing, sea, night life and of course cerveza! :)

Brussels, the city of chocolate

So here we come to Brussels… What a lovely city. When we arrived at Grand Platz, right at the heart of Brussels, we immediately faced the Renaissance atmosphere of the city. With the old tight streets all heading to Grand Platz, old fashioned restaurants, chocolateries in every corner, and violinists playing all around, this city gives you the impression you are traveling back in time to the early 18th and 19th century. Being the capital of Europe, with all the European institutions established in Brussels, this is one of the most important and culturally rich cities we have visited so far.

Amsterdam dam dammmm

Here we go to Amsterdam… This city is just as they describe it, just as in the movies :) )) I think all our group agrees that this is the most vivid city we have ever seen. It is full of young people exploring their new limits of life in different spheres. It is more or less the prohibited city if we can put it that way, because everybody is free to do things that otherwise, in other parts of the world are illegal; and this is also what makes it so attractive. From Dam Platz, to Van Gogh Museum, up to the famous coffee shops and red light district, this city is one of the most interesting cities ever when it comes to youth entertainment. We could basically say that Amsterdam is the city that never sleeps :) )))

A true German wonderland

Berlin, a true German wonderland, was the first city we visited on our way to our long Eurotrip. What impressed us in Berlin was the cleanliness of the city even though there were so many tourists. It is really impressive how Berlin can keep up with the dynamics of tourists and still be a step forward when it comes to meeting every demand foreigners might have. What our group liked the most were the Branderburg Gate, Charlie’s Check point, and the TV tower. The architecture is really striking in terms of design because it has very distinctive features; when you see the buildings all around, you already know you are in Berlin. To wrap it up, Berlin was an awesome city that we would like to have the chance to visit again sometime.

Berlin, Berlin……

Berlin, Berlin, Berlin…a true representative of European standard, of European countries.

It’s been a real pleasure to begin with Berlin as a starter on our long and exciting journey. Discovering Europe in this city has offered a mosaic of phantastic museums and art of all kind. One just can’t help getting lost on “The Island of Museums”.

So, at the very beginning of the trip into the unknown the first destination was unforgettable and thus the goal of the organization “Evropski pokret Srbije”, led by Vojislav Milosevic, successfully achieved.

After only a couple of hours of traveling we were all into making plans and phantasising about the new upcoming adventures. All led by the same desire – to explore and to get to know as many new nations and cultures as possible. It was like as we knew each other for a long time  and not just one day.

Thrilled and amazed by modern technology and Berlin’s trains the gay troupe was eager to get to know the ‘dangerous’ machine we were suppose to travel in, as well the first class. On our luck, the engine driver invited us into his cabine and a whole new world opened its door to us. We were able to make incredible photos.

On the other hand, the main goal to put together students of different social backgrounds and coming from neighbor contries was also a success. Good interaction and joint effort of ‘Balkan Rangers’ made the City rallye’s dream come true.

Berlin has broadened our horizons. That’s why I postponed my departure and decided to join the group in Amsterdam afterwords. In that way I got the chance to see more of Berlin’s beauties and stand by Leonardo’s Madonna, Van Eyck’s famous portrait and Botticelli’s Venus.

To conclude, it’s impossible to see all of Berlin just in several days, but it’s sure worth it just to experience the atmosphere. Somewhere between the old buildings, which portray the spirit of the past and suffering in The Second World War, and the frenetic and modern life of today you get overwhelmed by the desire to come back one day.

I’ve decided that my next stop will be Düsseldorf where I’ll pay a visit to my friend from Serbia. That’s where I’ll take some rest and time to analyse my impressions.
